A single-car crash kills a driver near 24th and Memorial early this morning after he lost control and struck a utility pole.
At around 4:45 a.m., a man driving a black Mercedes sedan was traveling northbound on Memorial Drive when he lost control of his car, hit the curb, spun around and hit a utility pole. Officers arrived along with the Tulsa Fire Department and the driver was extracted from the car. He was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries shortly after.
Tulsa Police Captain Richard Muelenberg tells KRMG that speed was likely a factor, but the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
After the car struck the utility pole, several area businesses were at least partially without power.
Reports say, Advanced Traffic Investigators will review all evidence in this crash as part of their comprehensive investigation report. The identification of the driver has not been released.
