SAND SPRINGS — The city of Sand Springs is one step closer to getting the “Project Spring” Google data center.
A district court judge recently dismissed a lawsuit over the planned Google data center in Sand Springs, and City Manager Mike Carter is confident the project will be moving forward.
“At this point, Google has actually purchased the property. They are now owners of the property, so we believe this project will be going forward,” Carter said.
The lawsuit was filed in March by the group “Protect Sand Springs Alliance” and several others. A Tulsa County District Judge ruled the plaintiffs did not have standing to file the lawsuit. The lawsuit challenged the city’s decision to rezone about 826 acres near Highway 97 for the data center, and the judge is giving the opposition time to file an amended lawsuit that addresses those concerns. If they don’t, the case will be permanently dismissed.
“The judge said yesterday that the case was dismissed, but she did allow the plaintiffs 20 days to submit an amended petition,” Carter said.
