TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department reported an 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was shot in the head on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, police said they received a call reporting a shooting at a home near West 63rd Street South and South Union Avenue.

The department said information is preliminary as officers continue to investigate the incident, but they believe the incident occurred following an argument between the 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man.

Police said they believe the argument started at a shopping center before continuing at the house.

Authorities reported the argument continued to escalate, leading to the 19-year-old suspect pulling out a pistol and shooting several shots into the garage when he was asked to leave.

Police said one of these shots hit the 18-year-old woman in the head.

From their current understanding, police said the owner of the home may have grabbed a firearm of their own and began shooting back at the suspect in defense of their home.

Authorities said the suspect ran away from the area on foot.

The 18-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital and is still receiving emergency medical attention.

The department reported they are actively searching the neighborhood for the suspect and are using K9 units and drones to locate him.

TPD said the only description of the suspect that they have at this time is that the suspect is a 19-year-old Black man.

The police said the public should consider the suspect armed and dangerous. If you see anything suspicious, please call 911.

If you have any video surveillance or other other information that could help with this case, please reach out to the Tulsa Police Department at 918-596-9222 or Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
