LEXINGTON, Okla. — The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office identified an unsanctioned drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility while conducting a welfare check at a house near the 14000 block of 96th Street.
Deputies were conducting a welfare check due to a report for an alleged kidnapping.
During the welfare check, deputies spoke with someone who was identified as one of the owners of the facility Nearly 40 people were at the facility while deputies were doing the welfare check.
Some of the residents told deputies they didn’t know if they were free to leave, to which deputies clarified that they were allowed to leave if they chose. 11 people left the facility.
The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office got transportation for the people who chose to leave. They were taken to the Cleveland County jail lobby and later made arrangements for family members to pick them up.
Deputies said this is an ongoing investigation, and FOX23 will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
