Bartlesville Police arrest suspect in December shooting

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The Bartlesville Police Department arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting that took place on Dec. 22.

Police said On Dec. 22 around 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a possible shooting near Highway 60 and Southeast Washington Boulevard.

Officers found a man who had been shot in the leg and rendered aid before Bartlesville EMS arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery.

An investigation found the suspect and the victim know each other, and had an ongoing feud.

Police said the incident began when two vehicle were traveling on Highway 75 and pulled into the parking lot of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.

An argument began in the parking lot and the suspect fire a single gun shot, hitting the victim in the leg.

Police used the Flock Camera System to identify a suspect vehicle, which was seen leaving the City of Bartlesville.

On Thursday, authorities said The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bartlesville Police Department conducted a search warrant near West 14th Street and Hillcrest Drive in relation to the shooting.

The suspect, identified as Willis Gray, was taken into custody during the search.

Bartlesville Police Department Deputy Chief Troy Newell shared a statement on the arrest:

“The Bartlesville Police Department continues to work closely with our federal partners to ensure a thorough and lawful investigation. While this remains an active case, our priority is public safety and bringing resolution to this incident. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as the investigation progresses.”

Police said this is an ongoing investigation. FOX23 will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
