TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — The Imagination Library of Tulsa County kicked off their Dolly Parton’s 80th Birthday Celebrations with the first Dolly Parton Birthday Storytime on Monday.
The event was held at the Broken Arrow Library and kicked off a week of celebrations.
“Today is one of many story times that we’ll have throughout the county this week celebrating Dolly’s 80th birthday,” explained Rebecca Harrison, the Community Engagement Manager for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. “She is a huge advocate for literacy so we are celebrating her and her program, the Imagination Library…We are going to have a birthday-themed reading celebrating Dolly. We’ll have party favors, songs and activities for families in attendance.”
The celebrations will end with a huge birthday party for Dolly on Saturday.
“We are actually going to have a huge birthday bash for her on Saturday and we’re going to have live music from Sugar Free Allstars. The event is from 1:00 to 5:00 and it’s come and go, so drop in. We’ll have a face painter, cupcakes, music, stories and crafts.”
Harrison encouraged all eligible families to sign up for the Imagination Library program.
“If you do attend and you have not yet signed up for the Imagination Library program, you can receive a free book every month, mailed to your home, as long as your child resides in Tulsa County and is under the age of five.”
