OKLAHOMA — Public Service Company of Oklahoma is sharing tips to keep your home free of risks from radon, a colorless and odorless gas.
Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
To prevent radon from entering your home, PSO says you should seal cracks in your floors and your home’s foundation, and improve the ventilation in your basement or crawl space.
However, PSO says the only way to know your home’s radon level is to test it, which should be done every two years and after major renovations. You can do that with an at-home test kit.
If the test kit shows that your home’s radon levels are high, PSO recommends contacting a certified radon mitigation professional.
