TULSA, Okla. — A Sand Springs man accused of sharing child sex abuse material has been convicted and sentenced to 14 and a half years in prison.
Austin Sewell, 25, was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison with a lifetime of supervised release on Tuesday. Sewell will be required to register as a sex offender upon release.
According to court documents, between March and July 2025, over 10 cyber tips were submitted to the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children (NCMEC) from the social media app Kik.
In those tips, investigators were made aware that videos that contained child sex abuse material were being shared on the app by Sewell. Further investigation showed that Sewell had multiple Kik accounts and was encouraging people to join chat groups to share child pornography.
While looking into his Kik accounts, law enforcement was able to find several chats where Sewell expressed sexual interest in children with other Kik users. Within those messages, investigators found over 98 videos and 24 pictures of sexually abused kids, babies, and toddlers.
Investigators were able to find Sewell’s Facebook account and identified him as an intern at a church in Tulsa.
The evidence from Sewell’s Kik accounts was submitted to NCMEC’s Child Victim Identification program and at least five victims have been identified.
Sewell is in custody and will remain there until he is transferred to a U.S. prison facility.
