TULSA, Okla. — Saint Francis Hospital South celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new expansion to their facility.
“It’s a huge day for us here at Saint Francis Hospital South as we do our official ribbon cutting for our brand new patient tower, new lobby and a ton of new public amenities that we are really excited to offer to south Tulsa, Broken Arrow and the region,” said Todd Schuster, the President of Saint Francis Hospital South.
Schuster said the new facility will give the Saint Francis Health System the capacity to assist even more patients.
“We’ve been working on this project since back in 2021 when it kicked off in the midst of COVID-19 when all the critical care beds in this town were at capacity and we knew across the health system that we needed to add more capacity to ICU and progressive care beds. What better location than Saint Francis Hospital South to be able to do that?”
The expansion includes a new patient tower, a lobby, chapel, gift shop, cafe and coffee shop.
“Saint Francis Hospital South has really become a secondary transfer center for Saint Francis Health System. We have the Level 1 Trauma Center at Saint Francis Hospital, but South Hospital also brings in about 200 patients a month from outside of Tulsa County. We are continuing to increase our level of care and our level of services, including pulmonary and critical care services. This new expansion, this bed tower, allows us to see more patients both locally and also from the greater eastern Oklahoma region.”
According to Schuster, the hospital is planning to expand it’s operating room capacity from four to 14 operating rooms by the end of next year.
The new expansion also included a partnership with Tulsa Bone & Joint, which will expand orthopedic services at the hospital.
