TULSA, Okla. — One group of students from Bishop Kelley High School spent their spring break pilgrimage in Vatican City where they had a rare meeting with the pope.
Pope Leo XIV was able to briefly greet a group of Bishop Kelley High School students. The students were even able to give Pope Leo a Bishop Kelley hat!
During the weekly audience in St. Peter’s Square, the group of students caught the attention of Pope Leo as he cruised by in the “Popemobile.” The group was even able to grab a couple of pictures and videos with him.

“”At the Wednesday Audience in Vatican City today, our students had an unforgettable moment — briefly greeting Pope Leo XIV and presenting him with a Bishop Kelley hat,” said the school in a Facebook post. “A quick exchange, but one they won’t forget anytime soon!”
Pope Leo is no stranger to Tulsa! He served on the Board of Directors of Cascia Hall Preparatory School from 1999 to 2001.
