TULSA, Okla. — A new facility from a German aviation company is now open at the Tulsa International airport
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the opening of Lufthansa Technik’s expanded facility.
“In the new facility, we have about 90 work stations for electronics and avionics technicians and we also have about 50 work stations for our administrative staff that is basically supporting our operations in the United States, as well as in the Americas serving our customers.” says Tobias Baumgart, Managing Director of Lufthansa Technik Component Services and Head of Operations for the Americas.
Baumgart says the new facility is important because they wanted to build up new capabilities in the existing hanger, so they had to move out some of the technologies.
“We had the idea ‘Let’s build that new facility. Make it clean and a fresh start so that we can keep expanding in the current hangers.'”
Baumgart says now that construction of the expansion is complete, he’s very satisfied how everything with the new building has come together.
“There was an exciting 13 months from groundbreaking here to now opening it and yes, we’re really happy that it now officialy becomes a part of our production network.
