OKLAHOMA — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for eastern and central Oklahoma, including Tulsa and surrounding counties.
The NWS says the warning is due to strong winds, low humidity and dry grass.
A Red Flag Warning means a fire can spread very fast and become difficult to control.
The Tulsa Fire Department has issued guidelines to help prevent fires saying:
- Do not burn outdoors
- Do not throw cigarettes out the window
- Avoid parking in tall grass
- Make sure trailer chains are not dragging
- Avoid anything that could create sparks
