Following graduation, the cadets will be sworn in, receive their badges and be assigned to stations across the city where they will begin serving the citizens of Tulsa in emergency response roles.

Throughout the academy, the cadets received intensive training in fire suppression, search and rescue operations, vehicle extraction, swift water rescue, hazardous materials response and life-saving medical care.

TFD said the program is both physically and mentally demanding, while being designed to prepare each graduate for the wide range of emergencies they will face on the job.

The ceremony began with an introduction from Chief of Training Bryan Lloyd.

The TFD Honor Guard and Tulsa Pipes and Drums presented the colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation led by Chaplain Joel Jones.

A class video, produced by cadet Payton Esmeyer, was also presented.

Special remarks were made by Chief of Training Bryan Lloyd, Fire Chief Michael Baker, Commissioner of Public Safety Laurel Roberts and Mayor Monroe Nichols.

The cadets then received their badges from Mayor Nichols, Commissioner Roberts and Chief Baker. Mayor Nichols administered the loyalty oath and the ceremony concluded with cadets reciting their class creed.

Friends and family joined to celebrate the achievements of these cadets as they took the next step in their careers serving and protecting the Tulsa community.
