Tulsa, Okla. – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says that the westbound I-44 flyover ramp to southbound US-75 will open Thursday.
A single lane is traffic on the new bridge will replace the loop ramp currently in use. The new bridge is 2,400 ft long, nearly a half mile.
“Tulsa Stonehenge” became the nickname for the US-75/I-44 interchange during the current construction project as the bridge supports were installed several months before the top layers of the bridge were constructed. Some thought that the empty bridge supports looked a bit like Stonehenge, and then gave the interchange the nickname on social media.
Work still continues to complete the rest of the interchange in West Tulsa.
You can see the ODOT video about the open ramp HERE.
