INDEPENDENCE, Kan. — Independence Firefighters battled a house fire Wednesday that was caused by lightning striking it.
Crews were called to 1208 West Myrtle at around 12:20 a.m. and when they arrived on scene, smoke was coming from a two-story house.
A second alarm was requested which brought in more firefighters from Independence Rural Fire and Dearing Fire.
The crews worked together on the interior of the house and were able to put out the fire. They say no one was injured during the incident.
