OKLAHOMA CITY — Governor Kevin Stitt Orders Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Fallen Leflore County Deputy Thomas “Walker” LeMay, who was shot and killed this past weekend.

The Governor has directed that all American and Oklahoma flags on state property be flown at half-staff in honor of LeMay, who was recently killed in the line of duty.

“Deputy LeMay served his community with courage, commitment, and honor. His loss is deeply felt across our entire state. Sarah and I are praying for his family, friends, loved ones, and community,” Stitt said. “His dedication to serving his community and our state reflects the very best of Oklahoma. In lowering the flags across state properties, we honor Deputy LeMay’s memory and brave service.”

According to reports, LeMay was shot and killed on Sunday by Edgar Lara during a standoff that lasted several hours. After Lara had allegedly pulled a gun on his own father, LeMay had tried to defuse the situation but was ordered to leave the property. When he returned, police say Lara opened fire and struck LeMay, killing him.

Flags will be flown at half-staff from Noon today until 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
