Five months after an infant family member died in her care, a Tulsa woman is charged with child neglect and unauthorized removal of a dead body after the infant was taken to the hospital unresponsive.

On Wednesday, 37-year old Kayla Goudeau was taken into custody by Tulsa Police after a five-month investigation into the death of an infant. According to police reports, in mid-November, Goodeau and her grandmother were watching an 11-month old when Goudeau took the child to her home. The infant was returned to the grandmother the next day and was then rushed to the hospital by the grandmother.

Hospital staff told police Goudeau showed them a video of the child breathing the night before, but they couldn’t see breathing or a heartbeat in the video. Reports said that it appears the child was deceased in the video, which was made nine hours before the child was returned to the grandmother. Goudeau then left, bought a smoothie, and went to work.

The child was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the medical examiner’s office determined the infant died of pneumonia before reaching the hospital. The child’s guardian was out of state for work at the time of the incident.
