LAWTON, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Lawton.
According to OSBI, the Lawton Police Department requested their help with the investigation.
On Saturday around 10:34 a.m., Lawton officers were investigating an assault near the 500 block of Monroe Avenue. While on scene, officers made contact with Anthony Montalvo, 33.
Authorities said Montalvo made verbal threats while the officers were on scene. The threats were targeted at the officers who attempted to talk with Montalvo for a few hours.
Montalvo eventually exited his home around 8 p.m. with two guns in his hands. Officers told him to put the weapons down, however, authorities said Montalvo refused which led to a shooting.
Officers said they immediately attempted life-saving measures on Montalvo. He was taken to a hospital for treatment where he later passed away from his injuries.
No other injuries were reported during this incident.
OSBI said this is an ongoing investigation.
