STILLWATER, Okla. — Kevin Etherington, the former First Assistant District Attorney for Payne and Logan County, was sentenced on Friday after being found guilty on charges related to the possession of child sex abuse material.
We covered when a jury found Etherington guilty of one count of Aggravated Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
On Friday, a Payne County judge sentenced Etherington to 20 years in prison.
According to authorities, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children passed on several online tips about potential child sex abuse material to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit in Sept. 2022.
Following an investigation, OSBI stated 56-year-old Kevin Etherington, who was serving as the First District Attorney for Payne and Logan County at the time, was identified as a suspect.
Due to information discovered during the search, authorities said Etherington was arrested and taken to Payne County Jail for charges related to the possession of child sex abuse material.
Etherington’s case went to trial and he was found guilty on March 5, 2026.
Following his sentencing, Etherington will be transported to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections to begin serving out his sentence.
