OKLAHOMA CITY — Karen Keith was chosen on Saturday to serve as the next president of the Oklahoma Historical Society Board of Directors at the Oklahoma History Center.
Keith has been an OHS board member since 2011 and previously served four terms as Tulsa County Commissioner for District 2 before her retirement from the position in Jan. 2025.
“The Oklahoma Historical Society has served the important role of preserving and interpreting Oklahoma’s history since 1893,” said Keith. “I am very proud to be elected president of this august organization. As part of those duties, I look forward to sharing all the wonderful benefits for our members, including access to all our sites and museums across the state, as well as special events. I am honored and excited to continue working with Executive Director Trait Thompson and our board to bring stories of our state to all of you.”
During the same meeting, Weldon Watson of Broken Arrow was elected as vice president and David Sigmon of Bartlesville was elected as treasurer.
All three positions were voted in unanimously.
Keith, Randy Buetler of Weatherford, Jack Baker of Oklahoma City, Deena Fisher of Woodward and Kenny Sivard of Idabel were all sworn in to serve an additional three-year term.
Kaitlyn Weldon Jones was sworn in on Saturday after her appointment to the board by Governor Stitt, while Jeffrey Tanehaus of Tulsa was sworn in to replace Kathy Taylor following her resignation from the board.
