CHECOTAH, Okla. — The Checotah Police Department says it is investigating a reported bomb threat at a Walmart on Tuesday morning.
Police say they received a call from management of the store around 10:30 a.m. that an employee received a call of the threat. The caller said there were bombs scattered across the store.
Police responded to the scene and evacuated the store and placed the store and surrounding schools on lockdown while the threat was investigated. McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department, Eufaula Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Muscogee Creek Nation and others responded to assist.
OHP cleared the scene and found no bombs. Investigators said they discovered calls similar to the one at the store have happened across the nation with the same circumstances and MO.
The scene was cleared after no credible threat was determined. Police say they are still investigating.
