Three charged in Tulsa Public Schools fraud scheme.

UPDATE: Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler held a news conference announcing criminal charges have been filed against three people, accused of using shell organizations to steal nearly $780,ooo from the Tulsa Public Schools voter-approved bond funds.

Former Tulsa Public Schools bond manager Chris Hudgins, Gayle Gwinup and Tom McKenna with Allied Engineering all face charges for embezzlement and Drummond says more charges could be filed.

TULSA, Okla. — Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler announced they’ll be holding a press conference announcing criminal charges in what they called a TPS bond fund scheme.

The conference is scheduled for Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

According to both officials, criminal charges related to the misuse of hundreds of thousands of dollars in voter-approved Tulsa Public Schools capital improvement funds will be shared with the public.

Tulsa Public Schools shared the following statement:

“Tulsa Public Schools is grateful to the Attorney General and the District Attorney as they announce next steps in the investigation to recover funds previously misappropriated from the district. The district is cooperating with all relevant law enforcement agencies and wholly supports their efforts to determine the extent of any past wrongdoing on the part of a former employee. Tulsa Public Schools is fully committed to providing any and all support to agencies pursuing justice in this matter. Our students and community deserve every dollar meant for them, and we vigorously support every effort to protect those resources.”
