SAPULPA — Beloved Former Creek County Sheriff Steve Toliver died at age 69 after serving the Sapulpa area for over 30 years.
Toliver served as Creek County Sheriff for 12 years, from 2000 to 2012, and was named Oklahoma Sheriff of the Year in 2003. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Hall of Fame in 2013.
Before taking office as sheriff, Toliver retired from the Sapulpa Police Department with the rank of Lieutenant after 22 years of service. He was instrumental in bringing modern technology to the Creek County Sheriff’s Office and in the construction of the Creek County Justice Center, which opened in 2005.
He was a graduate of Sapulpa High School and spent nearly his entire life in the community.
