PAYNE COUNTY, Okla. — A Payne County judge has ruled to convene a grand jury after petitioners acquired enough signatures to request an investigation into the office of the Payne County District Attorney.
According to court records, petitioners acquired 2,452 signatures which is nearly three times the needed 828 signatures.
Because the petition calls for an investigation into the office, DA Laura Thomas and all attorneys in her office are disqualified from serving as prosecutor and investigator.
Butler was reclassified as a Youthful Offender and sentenced to supervision over imprisonment following a plea agreement.
