Tulsa Police pulled over a van full of teenagers with guns this morning in North Tulsa and made two arrests.
Officers responded to a call about suspicious activity near 58th Street North and MLK Jr. Blvd., where witnesses saw several people with guns inside a gold van parked in the street. Officers say they initiated a traffic stop, but the van kept going and made a couple of abrupt stops, and the passengers jumped out holding firearms.
Some of the suspects ran into a home nearby but were convinced to come out. Officers say they found an AR-15 rifle and several rounds of ammunition, holsters, and a fake rifle.
Marlon Davis, a 19-year-old, had a previous felony adjudication and wasn’t supposed to possess a firearm. He was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail. A 14-year-old was tracked by by a K-9 unit, but he told officers he knew the people in the van but wasn’t involved in their activities. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for a dog bite and then booked into the Community Intervention Center for Resisting an Officer.
The other boys were released pending further investigation.
