Demolition begins on Brookside Baptist Church

TULSA, Okla. — It’s the end of an era at the southeast corner of 36th and Peoria in Brookside.

Demolition crews on Tuesday starting tearing down the old Brookside Baptist Church.

Built in 1952, the longtime landmark has sat empty ever since the pandemic and has changed hands a couple of times.

The current owner is Muskogee-based Armstrong Bank, which bought the property in March.

The exact plan is not clear yet, but the Brookside Business Association has been quoted in media reports as saying it’s their understanding the site will have some kind of upscale retail and dining.
