WCSO issue citations to man accused of shooting fireworks toward homes in several areas

WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said they issued several citations to a man accused of intentionally shooting fireworks toward homes in Porter, Redbird and Clarksville.

Around 8:00 p.m. on June 25, deputies said they began receiving multiple disturbance calls from witnesses who reported a man in a white pickup truck was discharging bottle rockets and aerial fireworks toward their homes.

Deputies stated they searched the areas for evidence and were able to recover a bottle rocket stick from one of the scenes.

Around 12:06 a.m. on June 26, a Wagoner County deputy noticed a white pickup driving near the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and State Highway 51B.

The deputy said he noticed the pickup had active equipment violations, so he initiated a traffic stop and pulled the truck over.

When the deputy walked up to the window, law enforcement said fireworks could be seen in plain view inside the suspect’s car.
Authorities said another deputy responded to the scene and a search was conducted on the suspect’s truck, with a large number of bottle rockets and aerial shells being seized as evidence.

According to law enforcement, the fireworks deputies found matched the type described by victims.

Following an investigation, the sheriff’s office said the suspect was issued with four citations for Disturbing the Peace,

Authorities said they’re considering pursuing additional charges in this case.

Law enforcement stated that intentionally shooting fireworks toward homes is incredibly dangerous and will be investigated thoroughly when reported.

Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott explained, “What may seem like a prank can quickly become a dangerous criminal act when fireworks are intentionally directed at people’s homes. Our deputies took these reports seriously, remained in the area to locate the suspect and worked together to bring this investigation to a successful conclusion. We appreciate the citizens who promptly reported these incidents, and we want to remind everyone that reckless behavior that places others at risk will not be tolerated in Wagoner County.
