Grants being offered to Route 66 businesses and attractions

TULSA, Okla. — As Route 66 celebrates its centennial, a grant program has been created to spruce up business and attractions along the Mother Road.

People in charge of the grant program says they’ll start taking applications tomorrow, July 2nd.

To be eligible, they say you have to be a small, locally-owned business with 5 or fewer locations, on either a Route 66 alignment or operating within a Route 66 community.

They say the money can be used by a Route 66 business or attraction to stay open, reopen, preserve or restore historic properties, improve visitor experiences, expand services, or launch new ventures that contributes to the iconic highway’s community.
