TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man after they say he left the scene of a crash in south Tulsa Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers responded to a hit-and-run crash near 52nd Street and Riverside around 10:45 a.m. They found a man in a Dodge Charger with a piece of metal stuck in his chest. The other driver had left the scene in a black Nissan Frontier.

Police say a preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Frontier failed to stop at the stop sign heading westbound on 52nd and pulled out in front of the Charger heading northbound on Riverside. Witnesses say the driver of the Frontier paused to look at the injured driver before leaving.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the witnesses followed the driver of the Frontier to his apartment complex and shared the information with the police. Officers found the Frontier parked, but said the suspect was not home.

About an hour after the crash, the suspect returned to the scene in a different vehicle and admitted he left because he had to get to a dentist appointment.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be looked at and medically cleared before being arrested and booked into Tulsa County Jail for leaving the scene of an injury collision.
