We reported on the September 2025 crash, where police said cars were lined up in the eastbound lane of East 116th Street at a red light when a truck crashed into them from behind at a high rate of speed. The crash caused a chain reaction, with oil from the vehicles starting a fire.

The United States Attorney’s Office said Chaney was accused of speeding, failing to obey traffic lights and driving after consuming hydrocodone and cannabis.

Chaney is a member of the Cherokee Nation. He has appeared in court since being taken into custody by the FBI.
