Illinois River Fire and Rescue shares warning against cliff jumping

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Illinois River Fire and Rescue shared a warning against cliff jumping after responding to multiple injury calls on Saturday.

Due to jumping into the river, firefighters responded to a head laceration from a paddle, an adult with a broken leg, a missing child and a 13-year-old with a broken leg.

Firefighters said in June and July, they have responded to eight calls on the river that involve a broken arm, three broken legs, one dislocated shoulder and three head injuries.

Do not jump off the rafts, rocks, or rope swings, firefighters said.
