WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office said a man barricaded himself inside a bedroom in Broken Arrow while deputies were serving outstanding felony warrants.

On Friday around 6:15 a.m., deputies attempted to serve outstanding Wagoner County felony warrants at a house near East 81st Street South and South 257th East Avenue.

Deputies made contact with residents of the home, who said they were not sure if the suspect, 37-year-old Shawn Burg, was inside. A short time later, deputies were told Burg was in a bedroom, but had barricaded the door from the inside.

Deputies say Burg was repeatedly told to exit the room and surrender.

They say they continued verbal commands for around 17 minutes, but Burg refused to comply.

Deputies say they then made a forced entry into the bedroom after breaching the barricaded door.

Once inside, deputies say they found more furniture blocking access to the room.

They say the furniture was moved and Burg was found lying on the floor.

After being given more commands, they say Burg complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
