TULSA, Okla. — EMSA’s latest Heat Alert numbers show the extent to which the extreme heat this week is taking a toll.
Friday is the third day in a row for a Heat Alert.
EMSA’s criteria for issuing a Heat Alert is five or more heat-related calls in a 24-hour period.
They say they responded to five calls on Wednesday, two of which were bad enough that they transported the patient to a hospital.
They say they then had seven calls on Thursday with four people taken to hospitals.
EMSA urges people to hydrate, limit their time and activity outside, and check on any friends and family members, especially if they may be more vulnerable to the heat.
