BIXBY, Okla. — The City of Bixby has shared a mandatory water conservation notice.
Due to continued water supply and storage concerns, the city said it has made the decision to ask residents to take action to protect and preserve the water supply.
Both residents and businesses are asked to follow the restrictions below:
- Water only on alternating days. Odd-numbered addresses are asked to water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while even-numbered addresses are asked to water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The city requests no outdoor watering on Sunday.
- Outdoor watering is limited to 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to allow the city’s water tank to refill overnight.
- Residents should not wash their cars or hose down outdoor areas.
- Golf courses and sports fields will not be allowed to use potable water for watering.
The city said it is also taking precautions by limiting water use to essential functions, closely watching water usage and tank levels and continuing repairs and system improvements.
The City of Bixby stated the following on social media, “This does not mean the City is out of water. It means we cannot safely accommodate additional demand right now. We understand these restrictions are an inconvenience, and we appreciate our residents, businesses and community partners for doing their part to conserve water. We will continue monitoring the system and provide updates here as conditions change.”
