OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Governor Kevin Stitt has issued an executive proclamation for a statewide election to be held after he leaves office.
The measure, State Question 848, would have citizens vote on whether the Legislature should call a Constitutional Convention which would propose possible amendments to the state Constitution or propose a new one for Oklahoma. The vote would be held on April 6, 2027. Stitt’s term ends on January 11, 2027.
Stitt says in the proclamation that the ballot title will be the title that was approved by Attorney General G.T. Blankenship in 1970. It reads:
“Shall the Legislature call a Constitutional Convention which shall be authorized to propose alterations, revisions, or amendments to the Constitution, or to propose a new Constitution for the State of Oklahoma? Shall the proposal be approved?”
Yes would be for the proposal. No would be against it.
