TULSA, Okla. — A man was arrested after allegedly posing as a UPS driver to take thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Tulsa Best Buy, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
TPD said employees at the Best Buy near 71st Street and Highway 169 reported a man dressed as a UPS driver picking up merchandise from the store on Aug. 24.
According to police, the man arrived at the back of the store in a pickup truck and was allowed into a shipping area, where he allegedly took packages that were supposed to be delivered to customers.
Police said the man used the same scheme multiple times before store management became suspicious.
On Aug. 28, the man allegedly returned to the store but was not allowed inside.
On Sept. 3, officers spotted the truck outside a pawn shop near 31st and Sheridan and conducted a traffic stop as the driver attempted to leave.
TPD said the driver matched surveillance images from Best Buy and had a UPS identification badge in his wallet. Investigators said the man had previously worked for UPS but had not returned his company ID and uniform after his employment ended.
