After finishing the summer ranked No. 7 on the all-time “hottest list,” Tulsa could get a break from the heat as some showers move through on Thursday.
Karen Hatfield with the National Weather Service in Tulsa tells KRMG that tomorrow will still be unseasonably hot again. But after midnight, we will see a cold front that will bring much-needed showers and thunderstorms. On Thursday morning, there is a 70 to 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. After the cold front, we will be back to above-normal temps on Friday, but not as bad as recent weeks.
High temperatures will be around 95 for the weekend, and the lows will be in the mid 70s. There will also be a low chance of additional rain over the weekend.
This summer ended with a No. 7 ranking on the all-time hottest list thanks to an average of 84.2 degrees. The formula calculates the average high temperatures with the low, and over the last 15 years, there have been four years ranked in the top 10. The time frame measured is from June 1 to August 31 each summer.
