Tulsa Public Schools needs to cut $12 million annually, and they want the public’s input.
Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson discussed a potential long-range plan at Wednesday’s board meeting to build a stronger, more sustainable future for TPS, but that will come with cuts. Dr. Johnson needs to find $12 million in annual savings, along with the steps to achieve it.
“Our commitment is to create a student experience that is strong and consistent across the district,” Johnson said.
The plan focuses on what students need consistently in every school.
“We are not approaching this work simply as an exercise in cutting costs,” Johnson said.
The cuts will likely include closing and consolidating some school sites, minimizing or canceling large contracts, and realigning district office staff.
