Officers say they arrived to find two victims shot. 46‑year‑old Michael Williams was hit multiple times, and a 31‑year‑old female passenger was shot once. Both were rushed to the hospital, but Williams later died.

Police say witnesses helped officers identify the suspect’s SUV, and police quickly located 20‑year‑old Dezmin Day driving downtown. Police took him into custody without incident. They say a pistol with its serial number filed off was found under the driver’s seat.

Investigators say video shows Day blocking Williams in the parking lot. Williams got out of his car unarmed, and Day opened fire, also shooting at the passenger. Detectives say Day admitted the incident stemmed from road rage.

Day is now booked into the Tulsa County Jail for Second‑Degree Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Tulsa Police Department

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said two people were shot in an Arby’s parking lot following what’s believed to have been a road rage incident.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said the victims pulled into the Arby’s parking lot near East Admiral Place and North Sheridan Road and got out of their car.

Police said the suspect then shot at the victims, grazing the female victim’s head and shooting the male victim several times in the chest.

Law enforcement said they’re still conducting their investigation and reviewing security footage, so it remains unclear if the suspect fired the shots from his car or if he also exited his vehicle.

After the shooting, officers said the suspect drove away from the scene.

Authorities said both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Around 10 minutes after the shooting, police said they located the suspect in his car near OSU-Tulsa in downtown and were able to take him into custody.

The department is still actively investigating the scene and determining what occurred.
