Those who drive on the Creek Turnpike between south Tulsa and Broken Arrow will notice a big change starting Monday.
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority said they’re now halfway done with a nearly $72 million project to replace the bumpy bridges over Haikey Creek.
With the new eastbound bridge ready to go, OTA said eastbound traffic will now shift onto the new bridge. Westbound drivers will shift to the new bridge on Friday, September 25th.
Crews will spend the week moving concrete barriers and painting stipes to guide traffic through the new pattern.
OTA said once all traffic is shifted onto the new bridge, drivers will have two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane. Traffic will stay in this configuration while crews demolish and replace the westbound bridge.
The project is expected to be complete by summer 2027.
