The 2026-2027 season will be the final act for Tulsa Community College’s Signature Symphony.
The Signature Symphony was created in 1978 and moved to TCC in 1996 as the professional orchestra-in-residence for TCC’s VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education.
The closure comes following a financial review that considered operating costs, ticket sales, and sustainability.
“This was not an easy decision. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to Signature Symphony,” said Leigh Goodson, Ph.D., TCC President and CEO. “However, the College has a responsibility to carefully evaluate its use of resources and maintain a strong commitment to financial responsibility with a focus on student success.”
TCC’s Board of Regents created an agreement in 2018 to fund the symphony, which included a stipulation that the organization would cease when those funds were exhausted.
70 part-time, contracted musicians will be impacted by the closure. It will not impact programs or students at TCC.
