OWASSO, Okla. — The Owasso Fire Department shared a list of safety tips to kick off the National Fire Protection Association’s Fire Prevention Week.
Fire Prevention Week runs from Oct. 4 to Oct. 10, and the firefighters said it serves as an important reminder that a little preparation can make a big difference when it comes to keeping families and homes safe from fire.
Firefighters said to take a few minutes this week to:
- Test smoke alarms
- Replace batteries if needed
- Make and practice a home fire escape plan
- Make sure everyone knows two ways out of each room
- Choose a safe meeting place outside the home
