TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa’s so-called ‘Stonehenge’ at I-44 and Highway 75 in west Tulsa is looking less-and-less like Stonehenge.
Today they’re opening the second of three new flyover ramps on what used to be the empty bridge supports that gave the project its resemblance to the famous landmark in England.
“We are opening the northbound 75 to westbound I-44. This will replace that cloverleaf ramp that we’ve been using, and that cloverleaf is actually going to close Friday after the morning rush-hour, ” said ODOT spokesman T-J Gerlach.
Gerlach says they’ll leave both ramps open until then so people have time to get used to the change.
He says the third and final flyover ramp is set to be done sometime this winter.
That will mark the last major step in finishing the long-awaited new interchange.
The project also includes reconnecting 51st street below the interchange.
