TULSA, Okla. – Parents will have another chance to share their concerns following proposed budget cuts within Tulsa Public Schools.
The next session is scheduled for October 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It will take place at the TPS Parent Resource Center.
Last month, TPS shared its plan to close or consolidate 17 schools throughout the district for the 2027-2028 school year. The closures are part of a plan to cut $12 million from TPS’s budget.
However, Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson said that, other than the location, nothing will change for students.
“They would be in a different school building than they were before, but the services will continue,” Dr. Johnson said. “They will continue to have the teachers that they need, continue to have the paraprofessionals and levels of support, as well as address any of our students who are on Section 504 plans; all of those services will continue for our students.”
There are two more sessions before the board votes on Dr. Johnson’s proposal:
- Monday, October 12 at Central Library (400 Civic Center)
- Wednesday, October 14 at Zarrow Regional Library (2224 W. 51st Street)
Both sessions are from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The vote is scheduled for October 19.
