JENKS, Okla. – Jenks Public Schools is calling a school nurse a hero after she helped save the life of a man after he injured himself.

They say Dennis Adams was leaving a football game at Allan Trimble Stadium when he fainted and hit his head on the curb. The impact from the fall severed an artery.

That is when Chelsea Franklin, a school nurse at Jenks West Elementary, came to Dennis’ aid and applied pressure to the wound. 911 was called, and she stayed with him to slow the loss of blood. Paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.

For her actions, Chelsea was awarded the Jenks Public Schools “Excellence in Safety Award.” Dennis and his daughters also attended to thank Chelsea.

“She literally saved my life,” said Dennis. “I will always be grateful.”

Jenks Public Schools released a statement to FOX23 recognizing Chelsea for her deeds. It reads:
“We are incredibly proud of Chelsea Franklin and the quick, decisive action she took to help Mr. Adams. We were thrilled to recognize her with an award, and we are thankful for the care and kindness she brings to our students and staff members every day. Nurse Franklin, and all of our nurses at Jenks Public Schools, live out a calling to serve with humility and genuine compassion.
