TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said they arrested a man accused of threatening a woman and her dog with a gun.
On Wednesday, officers said they responded to a report of someone pointing a firearm at the Stop-N-Save convenience store located near North Garnett Road and East Brady Street.
Authorities said the incident began when a woman attempted to use an electrical outlet located outside of the business.
Police said the suspect, who is not an employee at the store, told the woman she needed to stop using the outlet.
Officers said the woman decided to walk away from the suspect, heading over to the southeast side of the property where she sat down close to the dumpsters with her dog.
According to law enforcement, the suspect can be seen on surveillance video carrying a black pouch and following the woman over to the dumpsters.
As the suspect approached, police said the woman’s dog began to bark.
Authorities said the suspect reached into the black pouch he was carrying and pulled out a handgun, pointing it at the dog.
According to law enforcement, the suspect threatened to shoot the woman and her dog before also threatening the woman’s boyfriend.
Officers said they quickly arrived at the scene after receiving the initial report.
Before police arrived, authorities said they believe the suspect placed the black pouch containing the handgun on top of an outdoor ice box outside the Stop-N-Save.
Officers said they made contact with the suspect and quickly found the black pouch, stating they found an unloaded, rusty Rock Island 1911 .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a fully loaded 8-round magazine inside.
Following a search of the suspect, police said they found some weed and a green bottle containing 28 ecstasy pills in one of the suspect’s pockets.
According to authorities, the suspect admitted he was the owner of the weed and ecstasy, but insisted the gun wasn’t his.
The department said the suspect was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on the following charges:
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
- Threatening an Act of Violence
- Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
