TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police arrested a man they said was making death threats at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Tulsa on October 9.
According to police, staff reported the man on video at the hotel waving a revolver and threatening people. Officers and crisis personnel confronted the man before taking him into custody without any issue.
Police recovered a Smith and Wesson .500 Magnum revolver and took the man to the Crisis Care Center for an emergency psychiatric evaluation.
Police said that this incident took place around 3:28 p.m. Hotel staff called 911 after receiving “numerous alerts about a guest,” police said.
Per TPD, hotel staff said the reports showed the man posting “live Instagram videos displaying a silver handgun and threatening to kill an unidentified woman.”
Officers said that after looking at the video evidence, they concluded the suspect was “carelessly waving a revolver inside the room.”
Police said the man also shared sensitive information about his sister, including addresses and passcodes to residences. Officers said that they were able to make direct contact with him and while he was in protective custody, he told officers that he “intended to commit suicide by cop.”
The man was taken to the Crisis Care Center.
