PAWNEE COUNTY, Okla. — Pawnee County Sheriff Shawn Price has resigned. His resignation will be effective Tuesday, November 3 at 12 a.m.
In a post on the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, he said he has been offered a position he calls a fortunate opportunity for himself and his family.
“I appreciate the citizens of this county electing me and the opportunity to improve the services that this office provides,” he wrote in the post. “I have confidence that the staff in place are capable of meeting the expectations that this office has come to expect and continue to serve the public efficiently.”
In the post, Price highlights accomplishments such as the office staying within its budget and now providing 24-hour coverage, with at least one officer on duty at all times to respond to calls.
Undersheriff Raymond Leach will serve as acting sheriff until the Pawnee County Commissioners appoint a replacement.
