The victim pointed out the vehicle driven by the suspect, and officers went over to talk to him.

Police said officers asked the suspect to put his vehicle in park, but he started driving down East 2nd Street South. The suspect crashed into two other vehicles while trying to escape and officers lost sight of him. Those in the cars who were hit by the suspect reported minor injuries.

Police said officers then received a call that the suspect’s vehicle had crashed into the bridge under I-244 near North Peoria Avenue. Officers arrived and saw the suspect running away from the scene of the crash.

Officers followed the suspect over a fence of a business and put him in handcuffs. As officers began to question the suspect, he again tried to run.

Police said officers grabbed the suspect again and he was taken to the hospital to be cleared for jail.

The suspect was arrested for endangering others while eluding, threatening an act of violence, aggravated DUI, leaving the scene of an injury collision and escape from arrest.
