TULSA, Okla. — It was far from a ‘blue wave’ in Oklahoma, but Democrats did make some rare inroads in the State House last night.
Democrats flipped five seats in the State House, four in the Oklahoma City area, and one in Tulsa County, where Democrat Joe Watkins – an east Tulsa wood shop owner – defeated the incumbent, Republican T.J. Marti, a pharmacist who has represented District 75 since 2018.
Meanwhile, in the State Senate, Democrats didn’t make so much as a dent, picking up no new seats there.
Even with the Democrats new gains in the House, the GOP maintains huge majorities in both chambers.
